CEO

Frederico Figueira de Chaves is a seasoned executive with nearly 20 years of leadership experience across finance, asset management, and renewable energy. He brings a strong track record in strategy, corporate governance, and business growth, with a particular focus on the hydrogen sector in recent years.

In addition to serving as BrightHy’s CEO, Frederico is a Board Member, CSO and interim CFO of Fusion Fuel, BrightHy’s parent company, where he previously held roles as CEO. At Fusion Fuel, he helped guide the company’s expansion as a pioneer in green hydrogen. Earlier in his career, Frederico spent more than a decade at UBS AG, holding senior leadership positions including Head of Sales Management & Marketing for Asset Management and Chief of Staff to the Group COO and CEO EMEA.

With extensive global experience spanning Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America, Frederico combines deep financial expertise with strategic insight to support BrightHy’s mission of building safe, efficient, and scalable hydrogen infrastructure.

COO

Mario Garma is a senior executive with more than 20 years of experience in industrial gases, renewable energy, and green hydrogen. At BrightHy, he leads the company’s operations and strategic expansion, overseeing the design, construction, and operation of hydrogen plants to ensure efficiency, profitability, and compliance with the highest safety and sustainability standards.

Before joining BrightHy, Mario was a member of the Executive Committee at Fusion Fuel, where he built and managed the engineering and operations department responsible for delivering large-scale hydrogen projects. He also spent over 15 years at Air Products, where he managed Southern Europe’s production and energy portfolio — including 11 production plants — and later directed the development of green hydrogen infrastructure for the region.

With a strong background in chemical engineering, Mario brings the technical expertise and leadership required to help BrightHy scale reliable, efficient, and sustainable hydrogen solutions worldwide.

Commercial Officer

Luis Galdo is an engineer and entrepreneur with more than 12 years of experience in renewable energy, oil & gas, and waste-to-energy. He has built his career at the intersection of innovation and sustainability, with a strong focus on advancing the energy transition.

Before joining BrightHy, Luis served as Head of Commercial Management at Fusion Fuel, where he oversaw more than 160 MW of electrolyser proposals valued at €170 million and led strategies for market development. Earlier in his career, he founded and led Citamora Processes, an oil re-refining company, where he directed the design and construction of advanced recycling facilities converting waste to energy in the United States. He also worked in business development with OHL North America and contributed to major infrastructure projects in the U.S

Luis holds a Master’s in Construction Engineering & Management from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello. With a track record of building innovative ventures and delivering complex projects, he brings both technical and entrepreneurial vision to BrightHy’s mission of delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable hydrogen solutions.

Engineering & Product Director

João Jorge is an experienced engineering and product leader with nearly a decade of expertise in renewable energy and hydrogen infrastructure. At BrightHy, he oversees engineering with a focus on sourcing the highest-quality and most efficient equipment to ensure that every project meets the strictest standards of safety, performance, and sustainability.

Previously, João served as Engineering & Procurement Director at Fusion Fuel, where he led the design and delivery of green hydrogen projects, negotiating and securing key technology and equipment partnerships. Earlier in his career, he managed site operations for Opertec Angola and worked in solar plant operation and optimization with Magp Inovação and Magpower, gaining broad expertise across O&M, procurement, and commercial engineering.

With a proven ability to align cutting-edge technology with project needs, João plays a central role in BrightHy’s mission to deliver reliable, efficient, and sustainable hydrogen infrastructure across Europe and beyond.

PMO Director

Pedro García is a seasoned project and operations leader with more than 20 years of experience in construction, renewable energy, and hydrogen infrastructure. At BrightHy, he directs the Project Management Office, overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of hydrogen plants with a focus on safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Before joining BrightHy, Pedro was Project Management & Site Director at Fusion Fuel, where he led the construction, O&M, and EH&S departments to ensure the precise and timely execution of green hydrogen projects. Earlier in his career, he held senior HSE and quality management roles with leading renewable energy and infrastructure companies including Voltalia, Solarig, and Elecnor, where he was responsible for the safe execution of large-scale international projects such as the Haramain High-Speed Railway in Saudi Arabia.

Pedro began his career in construction safety and quality management, working on major civil infrastructure projects in Spain such as the M30 underground bypass in Madrid and the expansion of the Madrid metro. His extensive track record in managing complex projects and multidisciplinary teams underpins BrightHy’s commitment to delivering hydrogen infrastructure to the highest standards of safety and reliability.
